Downslope below ledge has higher cover in herb layer, dominated by Laportea. Above skid road is younger forest. Adjacent private land is also more recently logged and bisected by passable roads.;Rocky, steep colluvial slope with boulder piles and ledges. South aspect, but supports mesophytic tree and herb layers, probably due to high elevation, substrate etc… High diversity of mosses and lichens on rock. Second growth deciduous forest dominated by red oak and sugar maple with basswood, elm, and hickory.
Representativeness
Plot centered on ledge and boulders. Rockier than average, with less cover by Laportea than in concave positions on same slope. Mapped as Greenbrier limestone but bedrock appears to be sandstone. Upslope mapped as Mauch Chunk. Similar community repeated d
